Privacy Policy

Effective date: 21 October 2026

In short

  • DrivePlay has no accounts. The app sends no data to the developer or to any server of the developer's; it connects directly to the sites and stream addresses you open, to the sites concerned for shortcut icons, to Google when you search, and to Apple's StoreKit services for Pro purchases and verification. It contains no analytics, advertising or tracking software.
  • Your history, local video positions, favorites, shortcuts, settings, usage consent and imported videos are stored on your iPhone; they are not sent to us.
  • Websites you open may store their own cookies and website data on your iPhone; those sites are subject to their own privacy policies.
  • You can clear history and website data from the app's Privacy screen and remove favorites, imported videos and shortcuts from their respective sections. Uninstalling removes the app's local storage; the trial record in this device's Keychain may remain. Uninstalling does not erase Apple's purchase records or records held by websites.

Data controller

This policy applies to DrivePlay, the iOS and CarPlay app (the "app"), and to this website. The data controller is Muhammet Sadıç, an individual developer based in Türkiye. Contact: muhammetsadic07@gmail.com.

Stored on your iPhone

The app stores the following information only on your iPhone, in the space iOS reserves for the app.

InformationWhat it containsHow to delete it
History The full address (including any query part) of web pages you open and load in DrivePlay, the page title (or the site's domain if there is none) and the time you opened it; at most 200 entries. Pages you open within a site are added too. While Save history is off, no new entries are added. Settings › Privacy › Clear history; for a single entry, long-press it in Library › History and choose Delete.
Local video history and position The imported video's on-device identifier, saved position in seconds, duration, last playback time and whether it finished. This information stays only on your device to resume playback and show your history. While Save history is off, no new history or position is written; previous records are not automatically deleted. Settings › Privacy › Clear history; for a single entry, long-press the video in Library › History and choose Delete. Removing a video from the library also removes its saved position. Clearing history does not delete video files or favorites.
Favorites The address, title and time added of pages you save to favorites. Long-press a favorite in Library › Saved and choose Remove.
Settings Your save-history preference, your appearance choice (system, dark, light) and the on-screen position of the control button in the web view. By changing the settings or deleting the app.
Usage consent Whether you have accepted the car display usage terms and whether you have finished the first-launch introduction. By deleting the app.
Website data Cookies, session information and site storage created by the websites you open. Apple's WebKit component stores them. Settings › Privacy › Delete all website data.
Imported videos The copy brought into the app of a video you pick from Photos or Files. The original file stays where it is. The file name and information embedded in the video (for example its recording date or location) may also be present in the copy. Long-press the video in Library › My Videos and choose Remove from library.
Shortcuts The name, address, type (site or your own server) and order of the shortcuts shown on Home. A few video platform shortcuts are included at first launch. Open shortcut management with Home › Shortcuts › Edit, tap Edit on that page, then the shortcut's trash icon (Remove shortcut); or delete the app.
Site icons Icons fetched from the own address of the shortcuts shown and of the site you open (at most 256 pixels), in the device's cache folder. No cookies, page content or credentials are stored. An icon older than 7 days is not used. Use Settings › Privacy › Delete all website data or delete the app. iOS may also clear the cache folder itself when space is needed. Icons may be requested again when shortcuts are displayed again.
CarPlay trial record The connection count (0-10), record version and a random active app-scene session token for the first 10 separate CarPlay connections. No location, speed, gear or vehicle identifier is stored. The record is kept only in this device's Keychain and is not synced with iCloud. Clearing history or website data does not reset the counter. The Keychain record may remain after uninstalling the app and does not migrate to another device.

If you submit text on Home that is neither an address nor an exact match for a saved shortcut's name, the text is sent to Google Search (see Sent to the developer). DrivePlay does not store the search term separately and does not send it to the developer; if Save history is on, the results page may be added to the history on your device with its address, which contains the search term.

If iPhone backup (iCloud Backup or a computer backup) is turned on, iOS may include this information in your device backup; such backups are subject to your and Apple's backup settings. The app excludes imported videos and local video history/positions from backups; site icons are in the cache folder, which iOS does not back up.

DrivePlay does not rely on your consent to process personal data. The usage consent is a safety notice; to reset it, you can delete the app.

Pro and Apple purchases: Your first 10 separate CarPlay connections are free. Once the tenth session ends, app features lock until Pro is purchased; Settings, purchase/restore and privacy/support remain available. Pricing, payment and purchase verification use Apple's StoreKit services. DrivePlay does not receive card details; it uses verified Pro ownership on device and sends no transaction record to a developer server. Apple keeps its payment and account records under its own policy. Settings › DrivePlay Pro › Restore purchases revalidates ownership; pending or cancelled purchases do not unlock Pro.

Sent to the developer

DrivePlay has no developer server for app data. The app sends no data to the developer or to any server of the developer's; it connects directly to the sites and stream addresses you open, to the sites concerned for shortcut icons, to Google when you search, and to Apple's StoreKit services for Pro purchases and verification. The app contains no third-party software for analytics, advertising, crash reporting or tracking.

The app connects to the internet only to:

  • Load the websites you open. The app opens https addresses only.
  • Play a safe https address with a .m3u8, .mp4, .m4v or .mov path extension entered on Home, or an https media address entered on Network Playback, reached through Library › My Videos › Add video › From a network address.
  • Send text to Google Search (https://www.google.com/search) when you submit something on Home that is neither an address nor an exact match for a saved shortcut's name; the results page opens in the app's browser. From that point, Google's privacy policy applies.
  • Request the icon of the shortcuts shown on the Home screen, on the car display and in lists, and of the site you open, from that site's own address (/apple-touch-icon.png, or /favicon.ico if there is none). The request is made without cookies and without referrer information; the site can see your IP address and technical connection information at that moment. No other icon service is used. Icons are kept in the device's cache folder; an icon older than 7 days is not used and is requested again.
  • Connect directly to the https address you enter with Add your server (this can be an address on your local network or use a custom port).
  • If you use Open in Safari in the browser menu, or the privacy policy, support and terms links on the Privacy screen, the address is handed to your iPhone's default browser and the page opens there under that browser's settings.
  • Loading the Pro price and verifying purchase ownership with Apple; syncing Apple purchases when you explicitly choose restore. Apple processes payment information.

These connections go directly between your iPhone and the site or server concerned; no server belonging to the developer sits in between.

When you send a video or media on a page with AirPlay, picture and sound go directly through Apple's AirPlay to the receiver you choose (for example an Apple TV); DrivePlay does not use a relay server of its own.

If Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements › Share With App Developers is turned on on your iPhone, Apple may pass crash reports and aggregated usage statistics to us through App Store Connect. These do not identify you directly; they are used only to fix the app's bugs and improve its stability. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing the app without problems (KVKK Art. 5(2)(f), GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). This data is subject to Apple's privacy policy.

Permissions

  • Photos: DrivePlay does not ask for general access to your photo library. When you add a video, the iOS picker opens and the app can access only the single video you choose.
  • Files: The app can access only the single video file you choose in the Files picker.
  • Local network: When you connect to a server on your local network with Add your server (for example a media server at home), iOS asks you to allow DrivePlay to access your local network. The request gives connecting to your own media server and retrieving its site icon as the reason. You can change this permission in Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network.
  • Other permissions: The app does not ask for camera, microphone, location, contacts, calendar or notification permission, and does not ask for permission to track you across apps (App Tracking Transparency).
  • CarPlay: The app only knows whether the car display is connected. It receives no location, speed or parking information from the car.

Sites and streams you open

DrivePlay shows websites using Apple's WebKit component. The shortcuts on the home screen open the own web address of the site they were added for (for the included ones, video platforms); DrivePlay is not the owner, official app or partner of those platforms.

Because the sites and streaming servers you open connect directly with your iPhone, they can see connection information such as your IP address, may use cookies, and process your data under their own privacy policies. We recommend that you review those sites' policies and terms as well.

If you want to sign in to a site, you do so on the site's own page. DrivePlay never asks for your site password and does not write your password to its own records. Website data stays in WebKit's store on your iPhone and is not sent to us. During supported YouTube handoff, player status, playback position and control commands pass between the app and the player on the device; this information is not sent to a developer server.

Until you give usage consent, DrivePlay adds a local blocking rule and a short script to pages to stop video and audio from playing on sites. This script only stops playback; it does not read data or send anything anywhere.

Playing YouTube links

When a YouTube link you choose is played on the vehicle display, the official YouTube IFrame player may load. Your device then connects directly to YouTube/Google. The provider may process your IP address, browser and device information, the requested video and playback interactions under its own policies. YouTube/Google may use its own cookies or website data; if you have an active website session, activity may be associated with your account. These connections do not pass through a DrivePlay developer server. You can clear website data from the app’s privacy screen; this does not delete records held on the provider’s servers.

Sharing, tracking and ads

Because your app data never reaches us, we do not share or sell it to anyone. DrivePlay does not track you across apps and websites, does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA), and shows no ads of its own. Advertising and measurement on the sites you open are the responsibility of those sites.

Deleting your data

  • Settings › Privacy › Clear history: deletes visited web addresses and local video history/saved positions. Your video files, favorites and site sessions are kept.
  • Settings › Privacy › Delete all website data: deletes cookies, site storage and the icon cache. You may need to sign in to sites again; your favorites, video files and saved positions are kept. Icons for displayed shortcuts may be requested again.
  • Settings › Playback Preferences › Save history: turn it off to stop new web history, local video history and positions from being saved. Existing entries are not deleted by this setting.
  • Home › Shortcuts › Edit: open shortcut management, tap Edit, then remove a shortcut with its trash icon (Remove shortcut).
  • You can delete a single history entry, favorite or imported video by long-pressing it on its screen.
  • Deleting the app from your iPhone removes all information in the space iOS reserves for DrivePlay. Device backups made earlier are subject to your backup settings.

Children

DrivePlay is not directed at children. Because the app collects no personal data, it collects none from children either. DrivePlay can open any https web address that is entered and has no content filter; we recommend parental supervision when children use it.

Your KVKK and GDPR rights

Under Article 11 of Türkiye's Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK), you have the right to learn whether your personal data is processed; to request information if it has been; to learn the purpose of the processing and whether the data is used in line with that purpose; to know the third parties in Türkiye or abroad to whom it has been transferred; to request its correction if it is incomplete or inaccurate, and its erasure or destruction under the conditions of Article 7, and to request that these actions be notified to the third parties to whom it was transferred; to object to a result against you arising solely from analysis by automated systems; and to claim compensation if you suffer damage because of unlawful processing. Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, you also have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (GDPR Arts. 15-21).

Because your app data exists only on your iPhone, we hold no copy of it; you manage it directly in the app or by deleting the app.

You can send any request about your personal data to muhammetsadic07@gmail.com; we will resolve it free of charge within 30 days at the latest (KVKK Art. 13; under the GDPR, within one month at the latest). If your application is rejected, you find the answer insufficient or you do not receive an answer in time, you can complain to the Personal Data Protection Board (Kişisel Verileri Koruma Kurulu) within 30 days of learning of the answer and in any case within 60 days of the application date (KVKK Art. 14). If you are in the EU, you have the right to complain to the data protection supervisory authority of your country.

This information is not combined with your app data, because your app data never reaches us. We keep the correspondence for these purposes for at most 2 years after your request is resolved, then delete it. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering your request and protecting our rights (KVKK Art. 5(2)(f) and 5(2)(e), GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)); for rights applications under the KVKK or the GDPR, it is our legal obligation (KVKK Art. 5(2)(ç); GDPR Art. 6(1)(c) with Art. 12).
